A lengthy introduction to a self-obsessed girl *wink wonk*

Assalamualaikum and hi! Nice to meet you, whoever you are!

I am known as Yoo online, though I doubt I'll use that name again. In real life, people called me Adibah or if you prefer it cuter, Dibo. Born and raised in Ipoh, Perak, but coming from family with Kedahan background, I'll speak in Kedah dialect instead of Perak's when conversing in Malay (I do know and speak Perak's dialect tho! But my Kedah's is thicker, hehe). Now, I'm living comfortably in Ampang, Selangor.

I love reading books, just like everyone else. Back in my home when I was a kid, I discovered a huge collection of Hardy Boys, Enid Blyton and Nancy Drew novels (that were translated to Malay) previously owned by my older sister and brothers. When I wasn't out playing with friends, I spent my time finishing those books. That's when I discovered that I enjoyed reading mystery novels. When I was 8, my sister bought me my first novel, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Malay version). I've been obsessed with Harry Potter since then.

When I was 9, my friend brought the third installment of A Series of Unfortunate Events called 'The Wide Window' to school and it was the first English novel that I read (as I remember). Despite just understanding like half of the words, I'll still enjoyed it nonetheless.

My love for mystery genre goes further as I discovered Detective Conan on TV and hadn't been missing its air time since then. I became a huge fan! My sister, upon witnessing my love for this genre, kept spoiling me by gifting a few Sherlock Holmes novels, which made me truly, beyond happy.

Speaking of childhood, besides mystery novels, I read a lot of teen-lits and romcoms by Ain Maisarah as well. The whole bookshelf in my room back then were filled with mostly her books. However, my all time favourite is her mystery + thriller series, Impiana.

Aside from that, other genre that I genuinely enjoy are fantasy, fairytale retelling and sci-fi, but still, as a reader, I'm really a sucker for mystery novels, with an addition of thriller + horror as I grown older.

When I was 17, I was active on AFF as yoonieisme. I wrote a few malay stories there including Di Sebalik Pintu (horror), Beneath the Curse (fairytale/fantasy) and also The Night Baron (crime/mystery), which is heavily based on Detective Conan and won the first place from the community's writing contest. One of my dream is to write my own mystery novel, but as other matters demands a lot of my attention right now, I don't think that'll be able to be accomplished soon.
